The Sun is representative of the yang/masculine principle of the creative process. The Sun is the doing, the action, the will. It is all of the energy that we receive from the Sun that gives us and all live creatures energy and life force.
However, too much yang/masculine principle will burn you out. It is important both individually and as a society, that we also honor the yin/feminine principle. This time of the year, the Winter Solstice, is the most yin/feminine principle time of the year. It is NOT the opposite of the
yang, it is the complementary. The Winter Solstice is the darkest day of the year; the year with the least amount of Sun. This is the time of the year to go deep inside, rather than to frolick outside. Instead of acting and doing, go into your psyche; reflect and plan. The day of the Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, the darkest day of the year. We are trained to be afraid of the dark. However it is the dark that gives birth to the light. It is in the darkness of the soil, that a seed is planted and grows to the light. The Winter Solstice is the same, is dark and fertile. Your thoughts and intentions are particularly powerful around this time of year.
Take a moment to notice...
*What is on my mind?
*What keeps coming up in my thought process?
*Am I concerned about internal or external affairs?
Bring the energy inward to meditate and reflect. Tap into your desires and see what they are. Ask yourself, what do you yearn for in 2012? And just be still and listen.
